Peregrine Tours is a South African Company, established to provide visitors to South and Southern Africa with an exciting tour experience and make the most of you, or your visitors, time here. With many years of experience in tourism and guiding, and a life long interest in conservation, the owners of Peregrine Tours will make sure that your visit to South Africa goes to all the right places. Peregrine Tours offer customised and scheduled departure tours throughout Southern Africa and specialist itineraries for families, groups, conservationists and corporations. We also offer photographic, walking and birding safaris as well as day tours in and around Johannesburg and the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. Our group tours and special interest itineraries are designed to visit many fantastic destinations and our tours can be led in English and Spanish. Camping, accommodated and luxury lodge tours are available to suit client needs. Guides:Our guides are very experienced, with a passion and knowledge about the environments and sites in which they choose to work. They are registered with FGASA (Field Guides Association of Southern Africa) and DEAT (Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism) as well as being qualified in first aid. They are born and bred Africans, and most have spent a large part of their childhoods in the areas in which we operate. Some of our guides are also well travelled and through this have acquired great skills with people and their cultures. Vehicles and Group Sizes: Our vehicles are all in excellent condition, reliable, and serviced regularly by professional mechanics as well as being compliant with all the required insurances and permits and obviously roadworthiness. The vehicles which we use, such as microbuses and minivans, seat a maximum of 12 passengers, this is a means of keeping our group’s small and personal and allows you to experience the most on your tour. They have large opening windows for you to enjoy the amazing sights and space to make sure of a good photograph. Tours for larger groups can also be arranged. Accommodation and Campsites: Such a wonderful country is bound to have an amazing variety of accommodation and many are situated deep within wilderness and scenic areas. We use all types of accommodation from hotels to guesthouses and lodges as well as many game lodges within or bordering game reserves. Campsites throughout South Africa are of an extremely high quality; the South African National Parks, North West and Kwazulu Natal Parks all take great pride in their camps. Ablutions are clean with showers and hot running water, but some camps can become busy during the school holiday seasons. Accommodation within the parks is of a high standard, and in preparation for the Soccer World Cup in 2010, South African National Parks camps will all be gaining a star rating from the Tourism Grading Council of Southern Africa. Most camps have small souvenir shops and also sell basic commodities like cold drinks, beer and wine, snacks and gifts. Other camps are more rustic, slightly more out of the way, but still serving their purpose to perfection. We are always fully prepared for any eventuality and equip our vehicles with only the best. Our quality safari tents are waterproof and our sleeping mattresses are very comfortable. Stainless steel cutlery and crockery is used to maintain the highest standard of hygiene. Responsible Tourism: Responsible Tourism has become a key phrase throughout the World and, in keeping with this philosophy, our vision is to promote responsible and sustainable tourism and, through our interaction with others, to positively influence the preservation of wildlife, cultures and natural areas. We fully subscribe to the notion that we are merely custodians of our planet for future generations and our tours are designed to support these objectives. By using local guides wherever possible, developing relationships with local communities and by minimising impact whilst on tour. Our tours also visit certain conservation projects, rural communities and African craft markets in an effort to, through creating awareness amongst travellers, assisting in the generation of income and the creation of opportunities for rural communities, responsible tourism is one of the last remaining ways in which to uplift impoverished area’s whilst saving the unique environments and wildlife. Our focus closely mirrors those of the WWF and their slogan - for a living planet. Recognizing this, WWF have agreed to partner with us culminating in our participation in their Discover Tour Programme. |
