3 Day Pilanesberg Luxury Safari (Tour Code: 3DLPberg)Day 1- Johannesburg to Pilanesberg National Park: Departing Johannesburg at approximately 07h00, we arrive at Pilanesberg just after 09h00. We enter the park and depart on our first safari and see animals and birds as well as the fascinating geology. After a few hours, we arrive at our lodge and check into our accommodation and relax before enjoying a wonderful meal in the lodge restaurant. After lunch you have time bask in the sun by the swimming pool or possibly enjoy a spa treatment. This afternoon you depart on another safari in an open safari vehicle, returning after sunset using powerful spotlights in search of nocturnal animals guided by your lodge ranger. On your return to the lodge, you enjoy a delicious in the lodge before retiring to the bar or to your room for a good nights rest. (L, D). Day 2- Pilanesberg National Park to Johannesburg: This morning we wake up just before sunrise and after a quick cup of tea, coffee or fruit juice, depart on an early game drive. Returning to the lodge a few hours later, you enjoy a buffet breakfast and have a few hours to either partake in various optional activities, treatments or relax by the pool. This afternoon we depart on another open vehicle safari or special interest safari (Ornithology, botany and medical plants, astronomy and mythology, wildlife management in a modern African National Park and frog identification (summer months only)). You return to the lodge to enjoy dinner in the restaurant or under the stars in the boma. (B, L, D) Day 3 -Pilanesberg National Park to Johannesburg: This morning we wake up early, just before sunrise, and depart on your final safari. Returning to the lodge to enjoy breakfast before being met by Peregrine Tours for your transfer back to Johannesburg. On our way back, we stop at one of the biggest local art and craft markets in the area. We have an hour to shop and browse the wonderful crafts as well as grab a bite to eat, possibly a delicious pancake before it’s a short drive back to your choice of accommodation where the tour finishes that afternoon. Optional activities: hot air ballooning, elephant back rides and golf at the nearby Sun City complex. NB: Please note that game activities are dependant on the season. During winter, morning safaris depart after breakfast. Please also note that during winter, open vehicles offer little protection against the wind and although warm blanket are supplied, a wind proof jacket and warm clothing is advised. |

Pilanesberg National Park is an ideal alternative to Kruger for travellers with less time or just wanting to get away from the traffic and crowds of Johannesburg. Situated just over 2 hours from Johannesburg, Pilanesberg is malaria free, covers an area of about 50,000 hectares and is South Africa’s 5th largest game reserve. Pilanesberg supports about 81 mammal species including the big five (Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion and Rhino), as well as many other rare mammals such as Sable, African Wild Dog, Cheetah, Cape Clawless Otter, Black Rhino and Brown Hyena together with fantastic birding and over 350 species which occur in the park.
