5 Day Kruger Self Drive Tour (Tour Code: 5DKSD)

Day 1- Johannesburg to Pilgrim’s Rest:

After being met by a Peregrine Tours representative at Johannesburg International Airport (Oliver Tambo International) and assisted with the pick-up of your vehicle, you depart Johannesburg and head through the rolling hills of the South African Escarpment and into the province of Mpumalanga. Here you have time to visit the Blyde River Canyon, the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and some of the various beautiful waterfalls typical of the South African escarpment. You overnight at the Royal Hotel in Pilgrim’s Rest, a quaint and historic frontier gold mining village.

Day 2- Private Game Lodge:

After breakfast, you pack up and depart from Pilgrim’s Rest and continue your adventure down the Drakensberg Mountain Escarpment enjoying the magnificent scenery. You arrive at your Private Game Lodge on the border of Kruger National Park around midmorning and settle in to the bush atmosphere and African time. This afternoon you do a game drive on the reserve and after enjoying sundowners, continue your drive with the assistance of spotlights in search of the more elusive nocturnal animals before returning to your lodge for dinner. Day 3 and 4- Central Kruger National Park:

This morning you rise with the sun and after a quick tea or coffee and biscuits depart on your morning game walk or game drive. On your walk you take time to notice some of the smaller wildlife and see some larger ones on foot as well as learn about tracking and African bush craft equipping you well for your Kruger safari. After returning to the lodge for breakfast, you pack up and head to the Kruger National Park. Entering from the west, your safari begins with a multitude of wildlife to be seen en route to your camp. You have the rest of the day free for game drives before returning to your comfortable accommodation before sunset. Enjoy a delicious meal in the camp restaurant or braai (barbecue) your own meal while enjoying the sounds and stars of the African night. (B - -)

On your second day in the park, you head for the game rich area’s of southern Kruger. Departing from your accommodation as the sun rises and gates open, you have the entire day free for you to explore this fascinating area. The wildlife viewing is great and the mixture of habitats and eco zones increase the species count. Stopping at some of the many picnic sites, hides and viewpoints, you slowly make you way to your accommodation where you have a chance to relax before an optional night drive or your own afternoon drive. Once again enjoy dinner at the camp restaurant or create your own meal (- - -)

Day 5- Southern Kruger National Park to Johannesburg:

Waking once again before sunrise and after a quick tea or coffee and biscuits you depart on our morning game walk. We take time to notice some of the smaller wildlife and see some larger ones on foot as well as learn about tracking and African bush craft. We head back to camp for breakfast before packing up camp and departing for Johannesburg where the tour finishes in the afternoon. (- - -)
