7 Day Garden Route Self Drive Tour (Tour Code: 7DGRSD)

Day 1- Cape Town:

After being met by Peregrine Tours after your flight, it is a short drive to Cape Town, often referred to as on of the most beautiful cities in the world. Your guesthouse at the foot of Table Mountain, commands magnificent views over the city and ocean and the friendly staff will be there to assist you with ideas for your stay in Cape Town. The rest of the day is free to explore Cape Town. Visit the V&A Waterfront, take the cable car up Table Mountain or participate in a township or cultural tour.

Day 2- Cape Town:

This morning after breakfast you depart the guesthouse and explore the amazing Cape Peninsular. En route, you visit the working fishing harbour of Hout Bay where you can do an optional 1 hour boat trip to a nearby Cape Fur Seal colony. Then it’s up to the magnificent Chapman’s Peak Drive that rises hundreds of metres above the sea whilst hugging the coast. Stop en route for many beautiful views of the ocean and 12 Apostles Mountain Range. The drive continues through small towns and then enters the Table Mountain National Park at Cape Point. View the highest ocean cliffs, lighthouse, Cape Point and magnificent Fynbos vegetation- the richest of the floral Kingdoms. (B)

Day 3- Cape Town to Hermanus:

Departing after breakfast, you head for the Garden Route and Hermanus. Site of some of the best land based whale watching in the world. This small village, where whales come to nurse every year, has many great restaurants and your guesthouse, which is near to the fantastic beaches. (B)

Day 4- Hermanus to Knysna:

After breakfast, we leave Hermanus and continue along the Garden Route en route to Knysna and the famous Knysna heads. In the afternoon have time to visit the oyster farm and learn about the intricacies of oyster farming and why the Knysna Lagoon is so perfectly suited to oyster farming. Visit the Knysna Heads and enjoy magnificent views over the ocean and lagoon, some of the most expensive property in South Africa, or alternatively board a boat for a visit to the base of these magnificent mountains. (B)

Day 5- Knysna:


Today is free to explore the heart of the Garden Route. Visit Plettenberg Bay, the millionaire’s playground to take a whale and dolphin watching tour, or the elephant sanctuary nearby. Head for Tsitsikamma National Park and walk part of the famous Otter Trail and see the Storm’s River Mouth. Other activities in the area include bunji-jumping, canopy tours and mountain bike riding. Day 6- Addo Elephant National Park:


Today we head for the Addo Elephant National Park, this wonderful game reserve, home to the Big 7 is one of South Africa’s largest National Parks. Late afternoon is a great time to watch these magnificent giants come down in herds to drink from the waterhole, taking turns to allow each herd equal opportunity. (B)
